Taylor Swift fans are convinced that Lana Del Rey will be featured on her new album: Midnights, set to be released on October 21st. Fans have been speculating about the possibility of a collaboration between the two icons for years, and this October, Swift may be granting their wish.
The two’s similar positions as some of the most influential singer-songwriters in the music industry today means that this collaboration makes complete sense for both their careers and as well as their brands. Taylor Swift has always voiced her support of Lana; in an acceptance speech in 2020, Swift refers to Lana Del Rey as “the most influential artist in pop,” explaining that Lana’s “vocal stylings, her lyrics, her aesthetics” have been “echoed and repurposed in every corner of music.
Swift’s collaboration with Lana Del Rey was pretty much confirmed by Swift herself in a recent TikTok video she posted. The video was a montage documenting the process of making Midnights, including her long-time collaborator and friend, Jack Antonoff. However, fans noticed something else. In one of the video clips, Taylor Swift wore the same sweater that she wore when she, Jack Antonoff, and Lana Del Rey all hung out.
While this could all just be some inconsequential coincidence, there is more evidence to support this theory. When fans went to Genius to look up Taylor’s discography, they found an unreleased song called “Tossing Turning Ticking” that credited Lana Del Rey as a songwriter on the track. Although Genius has since removed this evidence, fans remain hopeful that this is a definitive sign of a collaboration between the two pop icons.
