Fans are loving Zooey Deschanel in Katy Perry’s newest music video for her sixth track “Not the End of the World” on her 2020 album, Smile. The twelve-track album was released August 28th of this year.
In this four-minute video, aliens mistake the New Girl actress for Katy Perry and save her from Earth as it is set to self-destruct in an hour. Only two of the aliens know ‘Katy’ is actually Zooey as the rest of the aliens prepare Deschanel for the “show” by giving her a makeover complete with blue hair and outfits from Perry’s Teenage Dream era. Zooey tells the two aliens she knows they made a mistake, but she will play along if they help her save Earth. SPOILER ALERT: Zooey saves Earth by unplugging the Earth’s internet.
It seems Perry timed the release of this space themed music video perfectly with the “Great Conjunction” occurring today. This conjunction where Jupiter and Saturn both enter Aquarius hasn’t occurred in nearly 400 years. Perry hosted an Instagram Live with Deschanel today at 1pm EST to discuss the music video. The Live ended with a group meditation lead by Perry’s friend Bob Roth. Katy Perry tweeted an announcement of the Live where she said, “Even if we can’t unplug the internet, we can reset our minds!”
Just like for the rest of the world, 2020 has been full of firsts for Katy as she had her first child, Daisy Dove Bloom, with her fiancé Orlando Bloom.
