2022 NFL Draft

Round 1 of the 2022 NFL draft officially started on Thursday at 8 p.m. EST in Las Vegas, with Rounds 2-7 to follow on Friday and Saturday. All rounds of the draft will be televised on ESPN TV, App, Radio, and on ABC and the NFL Network. Rounds 2-3 will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. EST and Rounds 4-7 will be held at noon EST. It is said that the 2020 draft was supposed to be held in Las Vegas, but the draft was moved to virtual shortly after due to the pandemic.

As of now, the Jacksonville Jaguars have the Number 1 pick, but it is still uncertain who they will pick. According to ESPN, Malik Willis of Liberty University is said to be the first quarterback drafted, even though Kenny Pickett of Pittsburgh is the next highest-rated quarterback. Georgia’s Travon Walker has said to supplanted Aidan Hutchinson of Michigan as the number one pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Also, according to ESPN, “The New York Giants, New York Jets, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, and Detroit Lions currently have multiple picks in the first round.”

Fans, fanatics, and sports commentators are taking to Twitter to express their excitement and their thoughts on the draft and the mock draft. Kenny Pickett’s own coach recently tweeted, “I would like to congratulate whichever @NFL team is smart enough to draft @kennypickett10 tonight. Not only a great player but one of the best people and leaders I’ve EVER been around! #H2P #NFLDraft”

This draft is said to be the first time in nine years that no quarterbacks are selected in the top five, after quarterbacks went number one, two, and three overall in 2021. This could potentially be the seventh year in a row that three quarterbacks are selected in the first rounds of the draft. The majority of a team’s roster is made on days two and three of the draft despite the players that get drafted in the first round getting the spotlight and most press.
