Oblivion Remastered Returns Hope for Bethesda

The gaming studios of Bethesda have been known in the past to be the
ultimate publisher of single-player games. Many of their earlier works have
been praised for their content quality and worldbuilding, like the Fallout
series and The Elder Scrolls. Unfortunately, their name over the years has
diminished in respect because of many recent decisions.

The start of these controversies began back in 2018 when Fallout 76 was
released and garnered a lot of hate for its incomplete state. Many bugs and
glitches made the game practically unplayable, which has always been an
issue for many of Bethesda’s games. Starfield is another game that
impacted public perception, as the product received mixed feelings at best
within the community. Game director Todd Howard has gotten his fair
share of ridicule because of these missteps. However, it seems that the
company has finally won back some good publicity after they announced
and released the remastered edition of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

This game has been a fan favorite for many years, going back to its initial
release in 2006. The remaster has taken the game and completely
upgraded the graphics, audio quality, and gameplay, while also keeping
many of the things that made it special in the first place. The game quickly
became the center of attention for gamers. While most of the development
was outsourced to Virtuos, Bethesda still deserves a pat on the back for
understanding what their community wanted and finding the right team to
make it possible.

Of course, this massive success highlights the potential for Bethesda to do
the same with other games in their catalog, like Fallout: New Vegas and
Elder Scrolls: Morrowind. It could give the studio a chance to appeal to their
long-time fans, while also working on new games to capture new fans. All
around, it seems that Bethesda has gotten a long-deserved win, which has
given hope for their future work.
