Beloved and influential Minecraft YouTuber Technoblade, who passed away in 2022, is receiving a full feature-length documentary titled “Technoblade Never Dies,” named after the late Technoblade’s catchphrase.
This project is being produced by Candle Media’s Candle True Stories, with financing from Hypixel Studios, the creators behind Minecraft’s biggest multiplayer server, Hypixel Games, and Riot Games, the developer of long-standing games such as League of Legends and Valorant. With full support from his family, the film intends to be “an independent feature documentary to bring Technoblade’s story and community to audiences around the world,” according to Candle True Stories.
Director Steven Lake promises to tell the story of the man behind the Technoblade alias. Per Candle True Stories’ description: “Through intimate access to his family and friends, hundreds of hours of Technoblade’s own content, and stories from the massive global community he inspired, the film will explore how a shy and anonymous California teenager transformed himself into a Minecraft warrior whose humor, skill and singular personality captured the hearts of millions.”
Technoblade’s community remains active to this day, with his channel amassing 23 million subscribers. His influence has also been immortalized with a nod to his iconic crowned-pig Minecraft avatar in 2025’s “A Minecraft Movie.”
The movie will document Technoblade’s life experiences through hundreds of hours of his own content, alongside interviews with his family and friends. It will explore how an anonymous teenager became one of the biggest Minecraft influencers, as well as the community he left behind and the bonds he had with his family.
Director Steven Lake said in a statement, “’Technoblade Never Dies’ is an endearing and authentic exploration of the positive power of the internet and video games,” “The Technoblade story is a triumphant exploration of the echo that the ones we love leave behind.”
The movie has only recently entered production, and no release date has been announced. Its producers plan to premiere the film at a major festival before pursuing a full theatrical release.
