The New York Jets won against the Atlanta Falcons 27 to 24 yesterday, and this win really showed the team’s perseverance. It wasn’t a perfect game by any means; there were a lot of mistakes made on both sides. It also wasn’t a fancy one to write home about either. Still, it was a game where the Jets kept pushing themselves forward and trying, even when things weren’t looking too good for them. That’s what really matters.
The Jets’ had a great start in the beginning due to the Falcons’ dropping a punt, allowing them to get the ball close to the end zone. Breece Hall ran the ball in for a short touchdown, making the score 7 to 0. The Falcons did score after that, and the game was then tied at halftime.
In the second half, the Jets were able to score another touchdown when Tyrod Taylor threw a long pass to Adonai Mitchell, helping them take the lead for a little bit there. However, the Falcons kept moving, and the Jets were then at a losing point of 24 to 17. By then, I’m sure some fans might’ve counted the Jets out. The team has experienced a rough season, so it would’ve been easy to give up hope there.
The Jets, though, didn’t give up. They kept moving the ball and trying to score. With less than two minutes left, Tyrod Taylor ran the ball for a touchdown, which tied the game at 24 and gave the Jets one more chance.
Then the Jets got close enough for a field goal, and Nick Folk came out to kick. He kicked the ball from far away, and it went right through the goalposts, leaving the win to the Jets.
Some people will say the Jets got lucky. Some will say the Falcons made more big plays and still lost. Those things might be true, but they don’t change the lesson of this win. The Jets kept going when it was hard. That’s something any team, or even any person, can learn from.
The Jets needed a win, and today, they got one.
