In 2000, the New England Patriots met two individuals who together would change the team as a whole–Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Together, the duo went on to appear in eleven Super Bowls in less than two decades, and took home the Lombardi trophy in six of these appearances. New England was the home of one of the most dominating teams in the NFL, but things changed quickly in 2020 when their top players started to retire or leave the team. The Patriots went from consistently being one of the top teams in the league, to barely being spoken about in the snap of a finger.
However, everything has changed in the 2025-2026 season. At the end of the regular season, their record stood at 14-3. A complete switch from the season prior, where they ended at a record of 4-13. They went on to dominate the playoffs, taking home the AFC Championship win and moving on to play in Super Bowl LX. For the first time in six years, the Patriots are back to where they have always been.
Drake Maye, a 23 year-old quarterback, is the center of the drastic change in the Patriots. He is known for his powerful accuracy, mobility, and deep passing power and has had elite stats this year for only being a sophomore in the league. Along with the coaching of Mike Vrabel and a dominating defensive team, the Patriots have raged through the season to bring New England the winning football feeling they have missed.
The league has been shocked with the resurrection of the New England Patriots, sparking up debate and the on-going negative opinions surrounding the team. For years, the Patriots have had controversy regarding both their team and players, and has been a ‘hated’ team in the league since the start of their empire. However, Patriot’s fans are arguably one of the strongest communities in the football world. New England has always been known for their sports, and fans will not let the world bring their team down in their comeback season.
In a little over a week, we will see the Patriots back on the stage they have been yearning for. New England is ready for another trophy on the shelf, and the fans are prepared to remind the country how powerful the Patriots truly are.
