"New" Artist of the Month for March 2026
Victoria Monét McCants, better known as Victoria Monet, is a popular American singer-songwriter. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Monet engaged in the arts at a young age through holiday plays, youth choir, and dance groups, one of which she formed in junior high. Monet would also develop an interest in songwriting, leading to the start of her writing her own songs.
Monet would learn about the music production world while recording songs at a local studio and would eventually connect with rapper and producer Rodney Jerkins through Myspace. Jerkins would invite her to audition for a role under the short-lived group Purple Reign, which would be dropped without releasing any music. Monet would return to songwriting, working for other artists until Atlantic Records CEO Craig Kallman offered her a record deal after hearing one of her demos.
Monet would release her debut EP Nightmares & Lullabies: Act 1 in 2014 and her follow-up, Nightmares & Lullabies – Act 2, a year later. Her biggest break came with the single Better Days, which was a collaboration with Ariana Grande in 2016. Monet would continue to collaborate closely with Grande on multiple tours and songs and other artists, including Fifth Harmony, Kehlani, Buju Banton, Chloe x Halle, and more.
