Bio

Alysa Liu is a famous American figure skater and Olympic Champion. Lui was born in Clovis, California, on August 8, 2005. She was raised in Richmond, CA, by her father alongside five siblings. She started skating at the age of 5, under her father’s direction. She started in group lessons and by the time she was 7-years-old, she was already competing. When she was 10, Liu became the youngest female skater to earn the intermediate gold medal at the 2016 US championships. 

Liu was the youngest athlete to join the American 2022 Winter Olympic Team. She placed 8th in the women’s short program event. On April 9, 2022, Liu shocked fans worldwide when she announced in an Instagram post that she was retiring. She said that she felt satisfied with her career, had accomplished her goals, and was ready to move on. However, to many fans’ delight, she announced her return on March 1, 2024, this time on her own terms. 

Liu has won many awards during her athletic career. Most recently, she became an Olympic Champion at the 2026 Winter Olympics in both the women’s singles and team events. She was also the 2025 World Champion, the 2025-2026 Grand Prix Final champion. She has earned two Grand Prix medals, is a four-time Challenger Series champion, and a two-time US national champion.
