Make way for this Pick of the Month: Aitana Bonmatí! Young star athlete Aitana Bonmatí was born on January 18th, 1998. Only child of parents Rosa Bonmatí Guidonet and Vicent Conca i Ferràs, Bonmatí grew up in the town of Sant Pere de Ribes in the region of Catalonia, Spain.

Growing up, it was not easy for Bonmatí to pursue soccer. From a young age, Bonmatí was often the only girl playing soccer amongst hundreds and hundreds of boys. However, Bonmatí did not let this intimidate her. Through hard work, leadership, and determination, Bonmatí rose to the challenge and broke gender norms by following her heart and pursuing her love for soccer!

Now, in 2026, Bonmatí is paving the way for many young girls like her. Earning the notable trophy, Ballon d’Or Féminin with FC Barcelona and winning senior trophies at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Bonmatí is making waves for both women and girls like her.
