Sunscreen Is More Important Than Ever Before, So Why Do People Hate It?

As summer approaches, the world is facing rapid levels of rising heat that only seem to keep breaking records as years go by. Currently, it’s more important than ever before to prep yourself and your family’s safety under what is likely to be extreme weather. Sunscreen remains one of the most important items a person can have to protect their skin from the sun’s rays. That said, for a variety of reasons, sunscreen isn’t well-liked.

The reasons have varied, but largely sunscreen dislike has been wrapped up within a mix of aesthetic dislike and medical misinformation. Within a time period when more and more people, specifically within the United States, are distrustful of medical professionals, many believe that sunscreens are laden with toxic chemicals that do more harm to the skin than good.

Others, usually within the younger generations or those who use beauty products regularly, dislike sunscreen for the texture and white film it tends to leave on the skin. This has led to more and more people who want to find better sunscreens opting to use products from growing foreign beauty markets like K-Beauty.

Ultimately, while sunscreen is important, many people still don’t see the need for it and are even willing to go without it, seeing that they believe whatever negative effects the sun’s rays have in the skin will only kick in later in life.

Luckily, US sunscreens are finally adapting ingredients and products to catch up to the quality of similar products in other beauty markets. Hopefully, this will give more variety of sunscreens for people to choose from and let more people be comfortable when using them.
