Anthony Doerr is a popular American author. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Doerr graduated with a degree in history at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, in 1995 and gained an MFA from Bowling Green State University. Doerr would start his author career in 2002 with the publication of his first book, a collection of short stories called The Shell Collector. Two years later, Doerr would release his first novel, About Grace.

Three years later, he would release a memoir titled Four Seasons in Rome, and in 2010 he’d release his second short story collection, Memory Wall. That said, it would be the publication of Doerr’s second novel, All the Light We Cannot See, in 2014, that would give him major critical acclaim. All the Light We Cannot See was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction that year and became a New York Times bestseller.

A year later in 2015, the book won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the 2015 Ohioana Library Association Book Award for Fiction. It was a runner-up for the 2015 Dayton Literary Peace Prize for Fiction. Since then, Doerr released his third novel, Cloud Cuckoo Land, in 2021, which was a finalist for the 2021 National Book Award.
