Bio

Sir Ridley Scott was born on Nov 30th, 1937, and is an English filmmaker. His work includes science fiction, crime, and historical epic films, characterized by a distinct atmosphere and highly concentrated visual style. He is the 8th highest-grossing director of all time, with his films grossing a cumulative $5 billion worldwide.

He has received numerous accolades, including two Golden Globe Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards, as well as nominations for four Academy Awards, eight BAFTA Awards, and a Grammy Award. He is well known as the director for Alien, Blade Runner, and Thelma and Louise. He was knighted by Queen Elizabath the 2nd in 2003, and a Knight Grand Cross by King Charles the 3rd.

In June 2026, it was announced that Scott will direct a movie adaptation of Treasure Island written by Jack Thorne and starring Hugh Jackman as Long John Silver.
