Could Prescribed Makeup Become Commonplace In The Near Future?

Changes are occurring across industries in recent years, and the beauty industry is no different. Within Western beauty markets, the popularity of Korean beauty and other holistic beauty practices is leading to trends that intertwine beauty and health.

Now more than ever, there’s been an increased focus on getting health benefits from makeup and other beauty products and practices. That isn’t to say that beauty and wellness have never had crossover before. Spas, nail salons, and even tanning salons have managed to handle that intersection pretty well for decades.

However, Korean beauty hit the nail on the head on a topic that Western brands often overlook. The skin is the body’s largest organ and should be treated as such. Whatever makeup you put on your body will surely have some effect, so many think that they are better off choosing makeup that actively helps their body rather than hurts it.

It’s why many popular products highlight ingredients like aloe vera, cocoa butter, hyaluronic acid, and vitamins and minerals that promote hydration and skin protection. There could come a time in the future when makeup and health intertwine to a point that doctors might prescribe these products to patients. Regardless, research still has ways to go.

This is a byproduct of the lasting anti-aging trends that unfortunately even teenagers have gotten swept up in. Aging is the ever-present boogeyman of humanity, and while it’s one thing to fervently search for ways to stop it, it’s another to simply use products that help your body age gracefully.
