The internet went into a tizzy last year when it was announced that Ben Affleck was tapped to play the Caped Crusader in Zack Snyder’s “Batman Vs. Superman.” Well, it turns out that’s not the upcoming blockbuster’s only a bit of odd casting. This week, it was announced that “Now You See Me” star Jesse Eisenberg will square off against Henry Cavill playing Superman’s arch-nemesis Lex Luthor. While Eisenberg is best known for playing Mark Zuckerberg–a character that couldn’t be less like Lex Luthor–Snyder has expressed a lot of excitement for his choice. “What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman,” Snyder said. “Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.” We’ll see if he’s right when “Batman Vs. Superman” opens in 2015.
