Blackpink is making a long-awaited comeback with new music and their largest tour yet!
Blackpink is back in your area after their record label YG Entertainment announced the girl group’s latest comeback this Wednesday. Since they are in the “final stages of recording a new album,” new music should be expected in August.
According to the press release, the band has been working on “a continuous large-scale project which will extend through the second half of the year.” YG Entertainment also announced that “Blackpink will also go on the largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group by the end of the year to expand their rapport with fans worldwide.”
Blackpink released their first studio album, The Album, in October 2020, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spending two weeks at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart. Three songs from The Album also landed on the Billboard Hot 100: “Ice Cream” with Selena Gomez at No. 13, “How You Like That” at No. 33, and “Lovesick Girls” at No. 59.
This will be Blackpink’s second tour since their world tour, In Your Area World Tour, from 2018 to 2020. Though no exact dates for their new music or tours have been announced, Blackpink fans have flooded the internet with enthusiasm awaiting the magical music from the artists of Blackpink— Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa.
“CHEERS TO EVERYONE WHO SURVIVED THE HIATUS. BLACKPINK IS COMING!” tweeted one Blackpink fan, @hourpink.
This amazing announcement comes after Jennie appeared on episode eight of the Korean YouTube channel “The Game Caterers” in March where she teased Blackpink’s return.
“Blackpink is also making a comeback soon. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, but since I’m the only [Blackpink member] here, I’ll just say it,” she said. “Please look forward to it. Thank you very much.”
Despite their hiatus, Blackpink has been on fire! Just last week, the all-girl K-pop group became the first musical act to reach 75 million subscribers on YouTube, and back in September 2021, Blackpink became the most-subscribed artist on the platform, surpassing the 65.5 million mark and Justin Bieber’s following.
Many are awaiting any new announcements confirming when Blackpink’s official new music releases will be and when their extensive tour will start.
