Bio

Cheryl Sarkisian, who performs under the name as Cher, is one of the most popular and influential pop artists of all time. She is known for her unique androgynous voice and bold fashion, which earned her the nickname “Goddess of Pop”. She was born on May 20, 1946, in El Centro, California. She got involved in performing musicals in school, and her love of music only grew as she got older. 

She started her career as a backing vocalist and met Sonny Bono in 1962. The two would go on to record 5 albums together before Cher would shift her focus to her solo career. Cher has released 27 studio albums, including Take Me Home (1979), It’s A Man’s World (1995), Dancing Queen (2018), and her most recent, Christmas (2023). 

She has sold over 100 million records, earning her a spot as one of the best-selling musicians of all time. Her work has won many awards, including 2 Grammys, one of which is a Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Billboard Icon Award. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2024. Billboard also named her song “Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves” one of the greatest songs of the 20th century.
