Thomas Tut Hunt announced today on Martin Luther King Jr Day that the Chicago Guardian Angels have been given a storefront headquarters in Logan Square, Chicago. The community has decided that in the face of escalating violent crime that it will try and improve, not move. They have tried getting more response from City Hall and the police but like most communities in Chicago they have little to show for it. They remembered when Curtis Sliwa first travelled to Chicago in the early 1980’s to set up the Guardian Angels chapter and Logan Square was the first community that received us. So even in the midst of a lockdown the Chicago Guardian Angels continue to patrol the CTA and the streets of Chicago and, in fact, are growing. This headquarters will serve as a training location for Guardian Angels who want to join from all throughout Chicago.
