Ramon Luis Ayala Rodriguez, also known as Daddy Yankee, was born on February 3rd, 1976. He is a Puerto Rican Rapper, singer, and songwriter and has been dubbed the “King of Reggaeton.” He aspired to become a professional baseball player, but he pursued a music career shortly after being involved in a shooting accident. 

 

In 1995, he released his debut album, No Mercy. His next studio album, Barrio Fino, in 2004, became the top-selling Latin music album of the decade of the 2000s. Gaslina, was nominated for the Latin Grammy Award for Record of the Year. In 2017 he collaborated with the Latin pop singer Luis Fonsi on the single “Despacito” which became the first spanish-language song to top the Billboard Hot 100 since “Macarena,” in 1996. 

 

On March 21st, 2022, Daddy Yankee announced his seventh and final studio album Legendaddy, which was released on March 24th, alongside its supporting tour that ran from Aug to Dec. Annoucing as well that he was retiring from music after the tour. His final concert was on the Dec 4th, in San Juan, later comfiriming his retirment on a post on instagram.
