In What Order Should You Watch The Star Wars Movies

Star Wars, the cult classic, started coming out in 1977. Ahead of its time, Star Wars is one of the best science fiction series to exist. If you have never seen it before, it can seem daunting to watch as there are so many movies and shows. There are two ways that you can watch all the Star Wars films.

The classic way to watch through the movies would be in release order. This order would consist of:

Episode 4 – A New Hope

Episode 5 – The Empire Strikes Back

Episode 6 – Return of the Jedi

Episode 1 – Phantom Menance

Episode 2 – Attack of the Clones

Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith

The Clone Wars (optional)

Episode 7 – The Force Awakens

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (optional)

Episode 8 – The Last Jedi

Solo: A Star Wars Story (optional)

Episode 9 – The Rise of Skywalker

This order will show you the evolution of the movies and how they came out. The built-up cult following saw the films in this order. With the original coming out in 1977 and the latest coming out in 2019, there was a significant wait time to get all these films.

The second and final order that you can watch these films is in chronological order:

Episode 1 – Phantom Menace

Episode 2 – Attack of the Clones

The Clone Wars (optional)

Episode 3 – Revenge of the Sith

Solo: A Star Wars Story (optional)

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (optional)

Episode 4 – A New Hope

Episode 5 – The Empire Strikes Back

Episode 6 – Return of the Jedi

Episode 7 – The Force Awakens

Episode 8 – The Last Jedi

Episode 9 – The Rise of Skywalker

Watching the Star Wars series in chronological order will have you bouncing around from different cinematic years. You will start in the early 2000s and then bounce to 2018 with Solo. Episode 4 is the original film, so this will then take you back 40 years to 1977. The cinematography might feel different, but this will give you the order of the Star Wars timeline.

You can enjoy Star Wars in many ways. If you wanted to, you could even make up your own order (although this might be confusing to newbies!).

Star Wars is a classic, staple movie series that everyone should see at least once in their lives. Good luck, and may the force be with you!
