Mixed-Gender Sports Should Be Normal, not a Novelty

When you are a kid, you don’t care if you play soccer with the opposite gender because you just want to play, especially with your friends and when you’re a kid you don’t care if your friends are a boy or girl. But when you get older sports become gender specific. Baseball is just for boys, softball for girls, Football for boys, gymnastics for girls.

But for some reason, in this day and age, people see boys doing gymnastics and are offended by it like it’s a girl sport and boys shouldn’t do it. What if a woman was strong built and wanted to play football with her brothers, but she can’t because she is a girl? That’s not fair. If you’re good at a sport you should just be able to play it.

Every sport should be genderless and males and females should be able to play together. If we can do it in P.E. and mixed the genders then why can’t we do it for regular school sports on actual teams. You’d get better teams that way because maybe a woman is stronger than some men on the team and she’s very good at passing, or maybe she is super-fast and would make a good quarterback. There are men basketball teams and women basketball teams but mixing would make a stronger team in the end.

This is a controversial topic because fans who are old-fashioned wouldn’t want a woman playing football on their favorite team regardless if she is better than other players. But what people need to realize it’s telling kids that grow up playing with their siblings of the other gender that they can’t play with them when they grow up. It just wouldn’t be fair to them.

If we make sports gender mixed and let people play what they want to play then we would get better teams and maybe have two coaches for those teams so nobody is uncomfortable being alone with male or female coach. Sports need gender equality!
