MLB All-Star Celebrity Game Highlights

From Jojo Siwa to Quavo, an assortment of celebrities graced Dodger Stadium this weekend, but they were not in the stands observing the game as expected— they were on the field playing alongside retired MLB legends. With the MLB All-Star Game happening tomorrow, with the best of the best from the National and American leagues playing against each other, it is only natural that a celebrity all-star game took place beforehand. “Brooklyn” played “Los Angeles,” with each team sporting half white and half neon-colored jerseys. The game was live streamed on YouTube, Peacock, and MLB.com, but will broadcast again tonight on MLB at 10:30 EST, for those interested.

The fan-favorite was Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny who played for LA, with sportscaster Stephen Nelson sharing that the crowd was even louder cheering for Bad Bunny than what he witnessed during the real MLB World Series games last year. In addition, Hollywood icons Bryan Cranston and J.K. Simmons played on the LA team, with Cranston making the crowd laugh with no walk-out music, then later by being ejected from the game in the final inning after jokingly getting upset at the umpire’s strikeout call. The Brooklyn team ended up winning 15-13, considering the field was made much smaller from regulation MLB size— and a few retired professionals were brought in to pinch-hit.

Hunter Pence, a former right fielder who won two World Series titles with the San Francisco Giants, was booed by Dodgers fans as he flashed his Giants shirt that was underneath his “Brooklyn” jersey. He then proceeded to hit a two-run homer pitched by former Dodger Andre Ethier, and just nearly missed the far-left outfield seats that would have been a genuine MLB home run. As for the celebrities, Jojo Siwa hit an inside-the-park home run for LA, while Simu Liu repped his Canadian pride in a Toronto Blue Jays jersey before changing into the Brooklyn one.

While this game may not be ideal for serious baseball fans, it is definitely entertaining to watch your favorite stars and actors on the field playing their hearts out and having a great time.
