"New" Artist of the Month for May 2024

Bio

Morgan Wallen is an American country music singer and songwriter born in Sneedville, Tennessee. During his childhood, Wallen was exposed to a variety of music genres from his parents and even took lessons in piano and violin. During his school days, Wallen focused on his baseball talent but a severe injury during his senior year of high school stopped those dreams. After high school, Wallen rekindled his musical talents and learned how to play the guitar.

Eventually, Wallen found himself as a participant in the sixth season of The Voice in 2014. The singer made it to the competition’s playoffs where he was eliminated.  Following his elimination Wallen signed on to Panacea Records, and released his debut extended play (EP), Stand Alone in 2015. Following that Wllen signed onto Big Loud where he released his debut studio album “If I Know Me.” in 2018. His popularity continued to rise thanks to social media apps like TikTok. His second album Dangerous: The Double Album hit the top of the US Billboard 200 and the Canadian Albums Chart.

However, his success wasn’t without problems. In 2021, Wallen’s reputation was hit after a video revealed him saying a racial slur. While there was blowback his second album continued to make records on the Billboard chart. Overall Wallen has released three studio albums, four EPs, and 16 singles as a lead artist. Wallen has also been nominated for and won numerous awards, including the Billboard Music Award for Top Country Male Artist and Top Country Album, and the iHeartRadio Music Award for Best New Country Artist.
