Everyone who loves sports likes to get into the lives of their favorite athletes. But when is it too much and borderline stalkerish? I mean, if an athlete posts on social media about something like a marriage, engagement, or even the arrival of a baby, they have the right to, but they also have the right not to have people behaving poorly on these social media accounts.
I think when it comes to controversial topics however, like their thoughts on gay marriage, abortion, or gun laws, those should be kept off their social media accounts because that can lead to possible dangerous situations. Any celebrity, whether it’s an athlete or actor or artist, should have their privacy completely private. I would not encourage them to tell their fans that they just had a kid or got married.
Any famous person should keep their private life and their career 100% separate. You don’t need to know who so and so basketball player got married or what actor got divorced or adopted another child. That is nobody’s business but their own because how they live their life doesn’t affect us. Some people take things that are out of their control too personally.
I personally don’t care about sports and who they marry or if they had a kid or got divorced because it doesn’t affect me. It doesn’t affect me if they came out as gay or if they told the world that their child is trans and that they support them because that will only start unnecessary arguments, and sometimes fans can be very petty. If someone stopped being my fan or something because I made my sexuality public knowledge, I would not care because I wouldn’t want fans that are like that.
If we all learned to not worry about the private lives of athletes we would live a better life.
