Stroman to Yankees could be a nice fit

The name of a free agent pitcher that is constantly mentioned with the Yankees is right-handed pitcher Marcus Stroman.

He has been a quality major league pitcher for parts of ten seasons.

He is a graduate of Duke University. He is a very strong-willed young man with great respect for his parents. He happens to be very family-oriented.

Marcus played in the World Baseball Classic representing the United States because of his father and another year he represented Puerto Rico because of his Puerto Rican mom Adlin Aufant.

Marcus’ dad Earl was a detective in the Suffolk Police Department in Long Island. Earl actually worked with my son Sergeant Jon-Erik Negron in the 5th precinct before Earl’s retirement after over 30 years of service. Marcus honors his dad by having a tattoo of his father’s badge.

The Stroman family have predominantly been Yankee fans throughout the years.

The fact that Marcus is small in physical stature and is such a great athlete is why he somewhat
Reminds me of Ron Guidry who at 5,9 was one of the Yankees’ all-time great pitchers.

The other thing that Marcus has that reminds me of Guidry is that incredible self-confidence.

A lot of haters out there like to call him cocky or arrogant… I call him very self-assured.

The one thing that I have learned about the Yankees is that it’s a business first. When you put on the uniform for the first time, the pride in being a Yankee kicks into automatic pilot.

I remember the winter of 1995 when certain people were warning Mr. Steinbrenner against him signing Doc Gooden and Darryl Strawberry but he signed them anyway. I also remember him saying that he was signing baseball players, not choir boys.

Well, those two choir boys were part of the reason why the Yankees were World champions in 1996. Gooden even pitched a no-hitter.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that after 50 years around the great game of baseball, the one thing that remains the same is that there will always be people talking irresponsibly about the most important part of the game, the players.

Baseball always owes it to our fans to put the best product on the field and if Brian Cashman thinks that Marcus Stroman makes the Yankees better then that is what he will do and if he doesn’t it’s because it just wasn’t a fit. Remember people, Cashman wants to win just as much as we want to see our Bronx Bombers win.
