BTS rapper Suga has announced a solo world tour.
Last year, the group went on hiatus and planned to reconvene around 2025, with separate plans for solo projects and military service. In South Korea, all able-bodied men are legally required to serve 18-21 months in the military.
Suga has announced a string of tour dates for the US and Asia later this year. In addition to two nights in Belmont Park, New York, on April 26 and 27, the artist will play in four other US cities before heading to Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and South Korea. Additionally, he will perform in Japan, but the dates have not yet been announced.
The poster also features Agust D, Suga’s other stage name.
The singer has confirmed he is working on solo music, but nothing has materialized yet. Three members of BTS – J-hope, Jin, and RM – released solo albums in 2022, while Jimin said in January that his debut album would be released “in or around” March. Also confirmed are debuts for V and Jungkook.
Earlier this month, Jin, the first member of BTS to begin military service, confirmed he had completed five weeks of basic military training. His discharge from the army is expected in 2024. As the next oldest member of the idol group, Suga is expected to enlist in the military next.
