Tiger Woods Comments on Golfers Wearing His ‘Sunday Red’

Multiple golfers wore red for the final round of the WGC-Workday Championship on Sunday to honor Tiger Woods as he recovers from his recent car accident. Woods traditionally wears a red shirt and black pants when playing on Sundays, something that his mother suggested he do when he was younger. It is a tradition that he has stuck with ever since. Woods responded to the gesture with a tweet saying, “It is hard to explain how touching today was when I turned on the tv and saw all the red shirts, To every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time.”

Just days earlier, Woods was in a serious car accident that left him hospitalized and in need of emergency surgery on his right leg. Woods was leaving a meeting in L.A. and was traveling northbound on Hawthorne Boulevard when his sports car veered off the road, crossed two southbound lanes, hit a wooden sign and a tree, and then flipped multiple times. Experts are saying that it looks like Woods may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, who arrived at the scene first, said that Woods seemed awake and alert and was able to answer questions about who he is and where he was.

Woods is currently recovering from a major surgery on his right leg, which was shattered in the accident. Pins and screws were placed in his foot and ankle to stabilize it, as well as a rod in his tibia bone.
