Tony Awards this Sunday!

Happy Friday, everyone! A major event in the theater world is coming up this Sunday, June 7, 2026: the Tony Awards. As Broadway’s annual awards ceremony, the event recognizes outstanding achievements in theater and highlights many of the productions and performers that have shaped the past season. Here’s a look at what the Tony Awards are and what viewers can expect this year.

The Tony Awards are the highest honors in American theater, celebrating excellence in Broadway productions and performances. They recognize outstanding achievements in acting, directing, choreography, scenic design, costume design, and many other aspects of live theater.

In the theater world, the Tonys are often considered the equivalent of the Emmy Awards for television and the Academy Awards for film, making them one of the most prestigious nights in entertainment.

This year’s nominations are especially exciting, with acclaimed productions such as “Lost Boys”, “Schmigadoon!”, and “Ragtime” earning recognition. Audiences will also be keeping a close eye on several fan-favorite performers, including Caissie Levy, Sam Tutty, Luke Evans, and Daniel Radcliffe, who are among the many talented artists and actors nominated this year.

In addition to the awards themselves, viewers can expect to see live performances from nominated musicals, memorable acceptance speeches, appearances from Broadway’s biggest stars, and plenty of exciting moments celebrating the best of theater from the past year.

The 2026 Tony Awards will bring together nominees, performers, and theater professionals to recognize excellence across a wide range of Broadway productions and creative disciplines. The ceremony will feature award presentations, live performances, and appearances from many of the season’s notable artists.

The broadcast begins Sunday, June 7, offering audiences an opportunity to follow one of theater’s most prominent annual events.
