Tony Hawk and Lil Nas X Bury The Hatchet

Turns out that Lil Nas X is an amazing skateboarder. Or is he?

The 22-year-old rapper shared a video on social media on Monday which shows him hanging out with legendary skateboarder, Tony Hawk, on a vert ramp.

The video starts off with Lil Nas X introducing himself and saying that he will “be doing some airs, maybe a McTwist.” As he approaches the edge of the ramp to drop in, the video sloppily changes to a clip of Hawk pretending to be the rapper in the same position. Hawk drops in and shows the camera a bagful of tricks before returning to the edge of the ramp and morphing into Lil Nas X again. With the aid of cinematic effects, the “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” singer ends the video by smiling at the camera and saying “that’s how you skateboard.”

Hawk and Nas X have been in the news recently for putting out products that are infused with human blood. The skateboarding legend released a limited edition of boards that have his own blood infused with red paint in collaboration with Liquid Death, a canned water company. At the same time, the Grammy-award-winning rapper was facing backlash for the release of his Nike “Satan Shoes” which also contained human blood. In this case, Nike did not collaborate with Lil Nas X and were not pleased with the product.

The silly video is believed to be a response to rumors of Hawk and Nas X having beef over their similar products. The rapper has pointed out that Hawk faced no public outrage from his boards, unlike the release of the Satan shoes. Marketing gimmicks aside, the two seem to be enjoying each other’s company and laughing at the whole situation.
