To so many Rachel Minaya was the wife of Major League Baseball’s Latin pioneer and the sport’s first Latin General Manager Omar Minaya.
To me she was one of the most beautiful women inside and out that I ever met.
When I first met Rachel I remember telling Omar that he was in over his head and he asked me why. I said because she’s too beautiful for you.
Honestly speaking they were made for each other because Omar is also one of the most beautiful people that you could ever meet.
Rachel was very sweet and generous to her man and those around her.
When I had my daughter Toni 32 years ago I immediately asked Rachel to be the Godmother because I always knew that she would always be the greatest role model. Naturally growing up with Omar I knew that he was the only person that I would want to be the Godfather.
If you know Rachel and Omar’s sons Teddy and Justin then you would understand why they are two of the greatest young men that you would ever meet.
We unfortunately lost Rachel this weekend but I will tell you one thing, Those who knew her will never ever forget Omar’s Queen.
