Recently, a Republican house bill has been passed and approved, which will largely operate to further President Donald Trump’s ambitions, which largely entails tax changes as well as more monetary investment into military and anti-immigration efforts.
As amendments to the bill are currently underway, Trumps seems to be pressuring his party to pass his bill for him to sign it on a set deadline of July 4, 2025. The two different versions of the proposed bill, one by the House and the other by the Senate include many cuts and changes such as a raised debt ceiling, cuts in the healthcare system, billions of dollars to border security, increased immigration fees, changes to renewable energy and so on.
According to CNN, “The Senate version of President Donald Trump’s agenda bill would leave 11.8 million more people without health insurance in 2034, according to a Congressional Budget Office analysis released Sunday” and that “Both chambers are calling for historic spending cuts to Medicaid, which provides coverage to more than 71 million low-income Americans, including children, senior citizens, people with disabilities and other adults. The package would also enact changes to the Affordable Care Act.” It’s quite apparent that this new bill that Trump is pushing may be detrimental to the already shaky state of the United States’ healthcare system.
This bill being signed into effect could cause a problem for many poor, low wage Americans as many would be stripped of health insurance. The elderly and young could also face drastic effects by this bill that Trump is pushing, which could result in one of the larger transfers of wealth from the poor to the rich the United States has seen in a long time.
