For a long while, many fans speculated that Atlus, the game developers behind the Persona series, was working on a remake of the fourth game. Rumors about the game began to spread around the internet, including leaks revealing the title of the game: “Persona 4: Revival”. These rumors were later confirmed to be true when Atlus dropped the teaser trailer for the game last month.
While the trailer hardly showed any form of gameplay or content, it was enough to excite the hardcore fans of the series who were desperate to revisit one of their favorite games. “Persona 3 Reload” was made for the same reason: updating the graphics and tweaking the gameplay to fit modern expectations. Many hope that the next new game in the series is just around the corner and that these remakes are a way to hold off until it’s ready to be released.
Ever since the trailer dropped, more information has leaked about the remake, including the fact that most of the original voice actors will not be returning to reprise their roles. This bit of news is upsetting, as the vocal performances were amazing in the original, and it will be hard to hear different voices coming from these adored characters.
Regardless, it will be interesting to see all the changes the remake will have to offer and if it can improve some of the weaker aspects of the original game, such as the dungeon designs. There is no doubt that more information about the game will be released in the future!
