Back in the day everyone wanted the “American Dream” which was a nice house with a white picket fence, a pretty housewife, some kids and a amazing job that let’s you afford luxuries and live comfortably. That was in the 90s or even earlier. Nowaday, this dream feels like just that, a dream. With inflation, wars, gas prices rising and finding a job is nearly impossible to find, that life feels so out of reach.
If we can’t afford to put food on the table, because there is no jobs to make money and have children is very expensive then this idea of a perfect life is just basically just a daydream. They put in our heads that we can do whatever we want if we put our minds to it, and its true, to a extent. For the most part people lack the self confidence and determination to succeed.
Students drop out of college, because lack of financial aid, health, or other reasons. If you do get a degree, it is hard to get a job, especially in the writing industry, because they expect you to have experience and it’s hard to gain experience without experience. And as parents we want to do the best for our children or future children but without a stable job it’s hard to provide them with what they need.
I am not sure if the world will go back to where people can afford the things they need to survive, and live comfortably. We all are too focused on things that don’t matter as much like material items and things we don’t need. At this point, working even multiple jobs isn’t enough to pay rent, bills, loans, children, and other essentials. This is very discouraging, but we all want the dream, and some people are so well off that it seems unfair.
I hope that once the war is over, gas prices will drop and things will become affordable again, which will make most people feel more confident in themselves because all we need is a little encouragement to make the American dream come true!
