Why Abortion Should Not Be Banned

Abortion is a right; it helps millions of women across the world prevent unwanted pregnancies and is healthcare. Abortion is one of the most debated issues in society, but banning it is not the best solution. Laws should protect people’s rights while recognizing that every pregnancy is different and can involve difficult, personal circumstances.

Many people like me believe individuals should have the freedom to make their own medical decisions. A pregnancy can affect a person’s health, future, education, and finances, so those choices are often deeply personal and should be made with medical guidance.

Banning abortion does not necessarily stop abortions from happening. Instead, it can lead some people to seek unsafe procedures or delay medical care, which can increase health risks for both pregnant people and developing fetuses in certain situations.

There are also cases where a pregnancy threatens the life or health of the pregnant person or involves severe fetal abnormalities. In these situations, doctors and families need the flexibility to make decisions based on medical facts rather than legal restrictions.

Rather than banning abortion, society can work to reduce unintended pregnancies through comprehensive sex education, access to contraception, and support for parents and families. These approaches address the issue proactively while respecting individual rights.

Abortion is a complex issue with strong beliefs on all sides. Even with those differences, many argue that keeping abortion legal allows people to make private medical decisions with their doctors instead of having those decisions made by the government.
