I am someone who has grown up watching movies all the time. There was even a point in my life when I wanted to become a film director. So, using my clear credibility as a film fan(Totally not self-claimed at all), here are five movie recommendations from me to you this October.
1.)The Iron Claw(2023)
This is a movie that I will literally never ever in my life watch again; and yet I will recommend it to any and everyone I can. Based on a true story of the Von Erich brothers who became famous through professional wrestling in the 1980s, this movie is an emotional tragedy from start to finish and is a film absolutely worth watching(although you’ll probably never want to watch it again)
2.)The Devil Wears Prada(2006)
Arguably one of the most iconic fashion films in history. Starring Meryl Streep and Anna Hathaway, The Devil Wears Prada is a film that, through and through, is a great retelling of society and how situations around us constantly change and we as people can adapt and change with it, for better or for worse, through the lens of the fashion industry. A cultural icon film that is definitely worth watching, especially for anyone feeling stuck in life.
3.)Project Hail Mary(2026)
Did I just tell you to read the book last month? Yes, yes I did. But for me to not recommend this film still would be a complete dishonor to you all. Starring Ryan Gosling, the film is an absolutely mind-blowing experience start to finish, with what I would argue the best intergalactic visuals I have seen in a film to date. A complete emotional rollercoaster throughout, and just like a book, especially for this year of 2026 is an almost must-watch.
4.)Almost Famous(2000)
Starring Kate Hudson (who absolutely steals every scene she is in), Almost Famous is a great coming-of-age story about a teenage music journalist following an up-and-coming band on tour across the country. This movie has such a good appreciation for not just rock and roll as a music genre, but also the realistic culture around it all. This is a film that I personally always recommend, and especially if you are a music film lover, it is definitely worth the watch.
5.)Scream(1996)
It would be almost a sin for me to make a movie list for October and not recommend and list the film that is arguably one of the best and also reinvented the slasher horror genre in Scream. This film is one of the biggest American Icons in film and pop culture, with Ghostface, while still serving as a pinnacle pillar of the genre 30 years later.
