After a critically acclaimed first season, the popular NBC sitcom ‘Kenan’ premieres its second season tonight, January 3, at 8/7c, with two brand new episodes. The show stars Kenan Thompson, a longtime ‘SNL’ veteran, who also serves as an executive producer on the series.
We are approaching the midpoint of the month of August, which means it is soon time to accept the fact that the Summer of 2021 is coming to an end. Summer is supposed to be a fun, carefree, and enjoyable time to hang out with friends and family. For me, music is a big part of the enjoyment of summer.
The Tokyo Olympics concluded on Sunday with the closing ceremonies, and it certainly was a memorable edition of the Games. With no spectators, rising COVID concerns, and shocking withdrawals, the 2020 Olympics, which were delayed a year, was consistently the top news story for two whole weeks. Now that the Olympics are over, it’s time to reflect on just how amazing these Games were.
The Andrew Cuomo saga continues, as his top aide, Melissa DeRosa, resigned late Sunday night following calls for the resignation and potential impeachment of the New York Governor. A report published by New York attorney general Letitia James revealed that Governor Cuomo had previously sexually harassed 11 women. The state Assembly’s Judiciary Committee is meeting on Monday, according to CNN, to discuss possible steps towards impeachment.
On Sunday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, President Biden’s chief medical advisor, said that he was hopeful that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would fully approve the COVID vaccines currently being administered in the US in the coming weeks. As of right now, all of the vaccines are being used under emergency approval. The three vaccines that are being used throughout the country are from drug companies Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson.
I am a huge fan of jazz and standard music. There is just something so satisfying and ethereal about hearing the timeless instruments, the crunching harmonies, and the smooth, buttery voices that fills me up with happiness. Being a vocalist myself and singing jazz before, I have a strong appreciation for the advanced musical knowledge and effort that goes into make the seemingly effortless music.
With the NBA Draft over and most of the major deals in free agency done, the New York Knicks’ roster additions and subtractions seem to be close to complete. The new front office, led by Leon Rose, William Wesley, and Scott Perry, have been awfully quiet about their moves in the brief time they’ve been with the team as a unit, but they’ve clearly been effective. When Rose took over as the team president in early 2020, the Knicks were a lowly lottery team, with little to no direction for the future. Since then, however, they’ve hired a new coach in Tom Thibodeau, who won the NBA’s Coach of the Year award this past season, who helped push this team to the fourth seed in the playoffs, where they made their first postseason appearance in eight years.
After staying out and laying low on the topic, President Biden has finally addressed the sexual harassment allegations that surround New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. On Tuesday, a report was released by the state’s attorney general’s office that found that Cuomo had sexually harassed multiple women. Governor Cuomo has denied these allegations time and again, and his tune has not changed since the report came out.
State Democrats in Texas are reportedly bringing in other Democrats from around the country to help them take a stand against Republicans, who are trying to pass very restrictive voting laws. This intensifies the fight around the country to pass the “For the People Act,” an act that celebrates voting rights and empowers voters all throughout the country.
