Bio: Jazmine Loayza was born in Miami, FL and is a recent graduate of Southern New Hampshire University with a BA in English. Her undying love for writing was in part inspired by her military upbringing, which frequently brought her to new states, schools, and people from all walks of life. As such, she is fiercely dedicated to advocating for those who are considered minorities, disabled people, and members of the LGBT+ community. She is also passionate about the arts. Hall of Fame Quarterback Len Dawson Dies at 87

As of today (Aug. 24), Hall of Famer Len Dawson of Kansas City Chiefs fame has sadly passed away at the age of 87. He was put into hospice care on Aug. 12. Len Dawson’s family shared a statement with KMBC, a Kansas city news station where Dawson had worked in his second career as a broadcast analyst for the Chiefs: “With wife Linda at his side, it is with much sadness that we inform you of the passing of our beloved Len Dawson. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend. Len was always grateful and many times overwhelmed by the countless bonds he made during his football and broadcast careers.

Another year, another iPhone launch–at least according to people with knowledge on Apple’s plans, who report that Apple is supposedly aiming to hold a launch event for its newest line of iPhone 14 products on September 7, according to Bloomberg. As is common for these launch events, they plan on introducing not just the iPhone 14 itself, but a whole array of products that will include everything from new Mac models, both low-end and premium iPads, and three new Apple Watch models. Following protocols that have been in place since the pandemic, the launch event is being pre-recorded and streamed online; however, some in-person members of the media may be present during the presentation.

Solange Makes History as First Black Woman to Compose for NYC Ballet

In line with past interdisciplinary endeavors that have spanned from fashion to the visual arts, Solange Knowles has made a new–and historic–foray into the world of ballet music. The New York City Ballet announced on Monday (Aug. 15) via Twitter that the “A Seat at the Table” singer is set to compose an original score for their chamber ensemble. The commissioned piece, still untitled, will be choreographed by dancer and choreographer Giana Reisen and will premiere at the NYCB’s 10th annual Fashion Gala on September 28. Solange’s score will be performed by the City Ballet Orchestra and a soloist from her very own ensemble, according to a Tweet she made in which she was “very excited” to share the news.
