Open

Australian star Cameron Smith rode the final round to the title Champion Golfer of the
Year as the winner of the 150th Open Championship. According to CBS News, Smith
matched the lowest score to par in major championship history, as well as getting the
lowest score across the final half of a round for any major champion.

before going low on five consecutive holes from Nos. 10-14, giving Smith the lead
against Rory McIlroy. His biggest and arguably best putt however came on the Road
Hole, the toughest hole on the whole course. After his approach came up short, Smith
putted around the hazard to 10 feet adn then buried the putt for par to maintain his lead.

from 80 feet nestled his first putt to three feet. His playing partner, Cameron Young, has
driven the green and then knocked in a 15-footer for eagle to tie with Smith, but only for
a moment. Soon after, Smith stepped into his putt and knocked it in, giving him the win
at his first major championship.

According to USA Today, Smith finished with an 8-under-par to shoot 20-under 268.
Smith, 28, hasnow six PGA tour titles and two Australian PGA Championships on the
