A Harry Potter TV series reboot will be premiering in 2026 on Max, formerly known as HBO Max. 15 years after the final movie of the Harry Potter franchise, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2,” the reboot will premiere. News of the reboot was first announced on April 12, 2023, at a press event for Warner Bros. Discovery.
The series will run for seven seasons, and it will be based on the original book series by J.K. Rowling. Ms. Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts are the executive producers who are looking to get David Heyman, producer of all eight original Harry Potter films, to join the crew. Max is also currently scouting writers for the project, according to Teen Vogue.
“We spent some real time with J.K. and her team, both sides [were] just thrilled to be reigniting this franchise. Our conversations were great, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead. We can’t wait to share a decade of new stories with fans around the world on Max,” says Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav after meeting with Max executives and Ms. Rowling.
Actors haven’t been cast for the project yet, but the show will reportedly have new actors portraying the series’ main characters.
