New ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Trailer Released

Disney+ recently released a new trailer for the new Star Wars series, Obi-Wan Kenobi. The limited series is set to have six parts and will be premiering on May 27 with the first two episodes. Initially, the series was supposed to be released on May 25 but was pushed back two days and will now premiere on the second day of the Star Wars Convention Celebration in Anaheim, California. Following the premiere, the series will release the next four parts weekly on Wednesday until the finale on Wednesday, June 22.

Both the trailer and the poster tease the anticipated lightsaber battle between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Lord Darth Vader providing another look into the iconic Star Wars villain. According to Disney, the story behind the series begins just ten years after the incident of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where Obi-Wan Kenobi ultimately defeats his best friend and apprentice Anakin Skywalker, who later becomes Sith Lord Darth Vader and turns into the dark side. According to the trailer, it is implied that the Imperial Inquisitor will hunt down Obi-Wan Kenobi on the planet of Tatooine and, at some point, will be forced to leave the planet altogether. It is still unclear what kind of role Darth Vader will play in the show. However, the concept art for the show shows that they will, at some point, have a lightsaber battle.

Disney’s synopsis for the show reads, “During the reign of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi embarks on a crucial mission. Kenobi must confront allies turned enemies and face the wrath of the Empire.”

Additionally, Ewan McGregor will be reprising his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi himself, and Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. Also joining the cars are actors Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Kumail Nanjiani, Bonnie Piesse, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is directed by Deborah Chow and executive produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor, and Joby Harold.
