Thom Browne to Present 2022 Fall Collection

The New York Fashion Week schedule has just lost a major name from this month’s list, though for a positive reason. Thom Browne has announced that he will be sitting out for the New York Fashion Week of February. He will now be staging his unisex 2022 fall collection in New York by the end of April. He will still, however, be including a new project for New York Fashion Week that relates to his forthcoming collection.

In addition to this, the date of his release, the 29th of April, is also significant, since it is exactly one week before the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art will open the second part of its project on American style, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” on the 5th of May. This project, with its partner “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” will continue to discuss the legacies of American fashion, taking place in the museum’s period rooms to set up discussions on “race, gender, community, and the craft.” Andrew Bolton, Browne’s partner, is leading curating the Costume Institute and has curated both exhibitions. “There is so much individuality and creativity behind American design. The CFDA’s American Collections Calendar is designed to support American designers to show when and how is best for them. Being able to showcase this in the best way, to create something truly unique and at the highest standards, and to truly support Andrew’s vision for the strength and importance of American design and fashion.”, Browne had proclaimed about his partner. Browne’s new show will be celebrating “An Anthology of Fashion,” happening on the 2nd of May. As for the New York Fashion Week for the month of February, some of the designers who have committed to a showing may have to postpone, largely due to problems within European factories amidst Covid-19 and Omicron outbreaks.
