Q&A with Robert Clivillés: “I wanted to express ‘Latinism’”
In celebration of Latinx pride and culture, one half of C&C Music Factory Robert Clivillés recently produced and released upbeat, evocative vibe song “Yo Soy Latino (Vamos a Bailar)” by Latinos Del Mundo, accompanied by an equally nostalgic music video. NYC Tastemakers sat down with Clivillés to talk about the release of this soon-to-be Latinx anthem, “Latinism,” and his life and legacy in the music industry.
No Good Deed
When I bit off more than I could chew, I left it dangling, wrote a sign, “free food,” and hit the streets. No takers.
So, I leaned back and swallowed it whole; in hindsight a mistake since it got stuck in my throat.
I lost consciousness.
When I awoke, I felt a mouse crawling outward across my tongue. Problem solved. I was grateful. Some see mice as pests; I saw her as a furry bunny rabbit.
She waddled away.
So s-l-o-w-l-y.
I watched her.
“Bye, bye, little rabbit.”
“Whoa!”
“WATCH OUT!!!”
But she was too slow for the calico cat.
