South Carolina teen falsely accused of shoplifting fatally shot by store owner
On Monday, a South Carolina gas station owner was charged for the murder of a 14-year-old boy he believed was shoplifting bottles of water. Cyrus Carmack-Belton entered the convenience store on Parklane Road in Columbia around 8 p.m. According to police, there was a verbal confrontation inside the store before the teenage boy left and took off running. Rick Chow, 58, then chased him down with his son toward an apartment complex. At one point during the chase, Cyrus fell, got up and was then shot in the back by Chow.
