Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada, has proposed new legislation that will freeze any importing, buying, or selling handguns. Expected to go into action in the fall of this year, the regulations are part of a larger effort to decrease gun ownership in the country. Starting at the end of the year Canada’s plan to ban an initiate a buyback program for 1,500 kinds of military-style weapons will also go into effect.

Yesterday afternoon, Ukrainian citizens reported that the Russian troops had started bombarding the city of Kharkiv, which is about 50 km from the Russian border, again. The Russian artillery was mostly directed at suburban homes and buildings. At least nine people are said to have lost their lives in the fire.

A student at Berkner High School in Texas was arrested after police found an AK-47 style handgun and a AR-15 replica rifle inside of his car on Wednesday, a day after the deadly school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. The student was arrested inside of his high school right after police received reports of an armed man walking towards campus. No injuries or gunfire were reported.
BTS Is Headed Towards The White

Korean pop group sensation BTS is headed towards the White House next week to discuss Asian inclusion and representation, as well as addressing anti-Asian hate and disinformation. The White House invited the Grammy-nominated boyband to meet with President Biden to discuss the rise of anti-Asian violence and discrimination in the United States. The group’s visit comes days after Biden returned from his first trip to Korea as President, where he visited Seoul and met with the newly-elected South Korean President, Yoon Suk Yeol.
