Flashback Athlete of the Month for December 2023
Grant Hill was one of the many names that dominated 90’s basketball. After graduating from Duke University, where he played for the Duke Blue Devils and considered by many to be the best in that university’s history, Hill became co-winner of the 1995 NBA Rookie of the Year Award with Jason Kidd, after being selected for the Detroit Pistons in the NBA draft.
In his 19 year long career, Hill played for the Pistons, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, and the Los Angeles Clippers, gaining the reputation as as one of the best all-around players in his time.
And while he went through five ankle surgeries, and other physical ailments, it didn’t stop Hill from performing and entertaining the crowd. Eventually, Hill retired in 2012 where he shifted his career towards sports broadcasting with NBA, CBS.
Currently, Hill is the co-owner of a range of teams, some outside of basketball including the Atlanta Hawks, and soccer teams Orlando City SC and Orlando Pride.
