Flashback Athlete of the Month for November 2020

Bio

Jack Roosevelt Robinson, otherwise known as Jackie Robinson, was born on January 31st, 1919. He was an American baseball player and was the first African American to play in Major League Baseball in the modern era.

 

In 1962, Robinson was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame and in 1947, he won the Rookie of the Year Award. He was a part of the Brooklyn Dodgers and played in six World series. Besides his incredibly baseball career, he contributed to the Civil Rights Movement and challenged the evil of segregation that affected society at the time. Although he died in 1972, he is still a role model for many.
