Rapper A$AP Rocky posted a $550K bond after being arrested at Los Angeles International Airport Wednesday morning. Rocky was arrested in connection with a shooting that took place in November, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Rocky was said to be arriving on a private plane coming back from Barbados, where he had been on vacation with his pregnant girlfriend and singer Rihanna. According to law enforcement at the scene, Rihanna was with Rocky when he was arrested, and a search warrant was also executed at his private residence in Los Angeles.
According to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department booking report, later in the day, Rocky was booked into jail at 12:44 p.m., and bail was set to $550,000. However, he was released more than two hours later after posting bail and now has a court date set for August 17, 2022.
After publishing this article, police took to Twitter to release a statement saying, “Early this morning, LAPD officers arrested Mayers for assault with a deadly weapon at the Los Angeles International Airport. The case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration.” According to the police, the shooting happened after an argument between two acquaintances escalated. The victim had said that the incident occurred around the time of 10:15 pm and mentioned that two other men fled the scene on foot.
In 2019, Rocky was convicted of assault and was arrested in Sweden after a fight between his entourage and two other men. Former President Donald Trump had fought for his release at the time, cautioning that Sweden would face negative consequences if he were not freed. Rocky had to pay $1,000 in damages, and he served a month in jail before he was released.
Rocky and his girlfriend, Rihanna, announced that she was pregnant with their child earlier this year. There is no set due date; however, she is said to be in her third trimester. The duo were both seen vacationing in Barbados, Rihanna’s homeland.
