Anti-Vaccine Doctor Sentenced to Prison for Capitol Attack

Doctor Simone Gold, a former doctor from Beverly Hills, has been sentenced to jail for her role in the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Gold has been known for spreading misinformation and anti-vaccine rhetoric concerning Covid-19. She was sentenced to serve 60 days in prison for entering the Capitol building illegally.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has released a new study about the likelihood of long Covid symptoms in adult survivors of the disease. They found that one in five adults under the age of 65 has developed one or more health conditions that can be attributed to having had Covid-19. Patients who have survived Covid above the age of 65 are even more likely at one in four.

While the pandemic and its economic repercussions have caused many around the world to suffer, this is not the case for some. Rather, around 573 people have joined the list of
billionaires since 2020. Meaning on average a new billionaire was minted every 30 hours in the last two years. The figures come from a report released by Oxfam, a nonprofit in the UK. Oxfam utilized data from Forbes as well as the world bank to produce their report, Profiting from Pain, in which they shed light on the growing wealth inequality in the world.

Delta-Plus Variant Cases Recorded in South Korea

On Tuesday, South Korea’s Disease Control and Prevention Agency reported that it had recorded at least two cases of the new delta-plus variant of the coronavirus. They told Reuters that the first case was a man in his 40s with “no recent travel records.” The second was recorded in a person who received both doses of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine, returning to South Korea from the U.S.
