Several feet of snow piled up on California’s peaks and mountain passes this weekend, causing roadways to close for avalanche control work. This also backed up traffic and forced at least one ski resort, Sierra at Tahoe, to cancel its Monday operations despite “legendary” riding conditions. California’s snowpack is on pace for a remarkable season after nearly three weeks of atmospheric river storms pummeled California with heavy precipitation. Every region of the Sierra Nevada has more than 200% of its typical snowpack for this time of year.

Emergency Over Nationwide Baby
Formula Shortage
On Sunday May 22 New York Mayor Eric Adams declared a state of emergency in the midst of a nationwide baby formula shortage. According to a statement from his office, the mayor signed the emergency executive order which will give the city’s Department of Consumer and Worker Protection to prevent price gouging for formula. “This emergency executive order will help us to crack down on any retailer looking to capitalize on this crisis by jacking up prices on this essential good,” Adams said in his statement on Sunday.
Brooklyn Subway Shooting Updates
Updates continue to flow in following a mass shooting that happened on the subway at 36th Street Station in Brooklyn, New York. The shooting left 30 people injured, and the city frightened. However, none of the injuries were life-threatening.
