Pokémon trading cards have existed since 1998. Just like investments, special elite cards can be traded for more valuable Pokémon, and it doesn’t look like trading cards are going away anytime soon. At the March Premier Auction, there was a rare, first edition, 1999 holographic Charizard card that was sold for a flaming $420,000. The card collector said, “his historic piece of art designed by celebrated artist Mitsuhiro Arita is easily the most recognizable Pokémon card ever made.”
